Hinca's Comment on Anita Kolopaking's Detention: Finish it

JAKARTA - Member of Commission III (Law Commission) DPR RI, Hinca Panjaitan, responded to the news of Anita Kolopaking's detention. Djoko Tjandra's lawyer was arrested due to the case of using a fake passport issued by his client by Police Brigadier General Prasetijo Utomo.

"We appreciate it and wait for the results," said Hinca, quoted from Antara, Saturday, August 8.

For further investigation, Anita Kolopaking was detained at the National Police-Criminal Investigation Detention Center for 20 days. She was judged to have used fake letters or faked travel documents with her client, Djoko Tjandra.

Anita was detained after being questioned for approximately 17 hours by investigators from the Sub-directorate 5 of the General Crime Directorate, Bareskrim Polri.

Hinca hopes that Bareskrim Polri can continue to uncover the Djoko Tjandra case.

"Finish it. Not only at the Police Criminal Investigation Unit, but also at the Attorney General's Office. Keep going, finish this case," continued Hinca.

Bareskrim Polri needs to carry out the investigations into suspected joint roles or assisting the escape of the convicted person, Djoko Tjandra. According to Hinca, this case does not stand alone. "The red thread is bright," he said.

The legal handling by Bareskrim Polri is new hope for the community. It can ensure the end of this problem and find the actors who are involved. So, it can be processed fairly according to the applicable law.

Hinca also assessed that the Attorney General's Office needs to open the investigation results of the prosecutor with the initials P in a transparent manner. It's to fulfill the sense of public justice who witnessed the case clearly.

"It needs to be made public. What are the results of the internal examination of the Supervision and Development Division of Attorney P at the AGO? So, it will be brightly lit. The public is asking whether there is important hidden information. People read the AGO's reluctance to legally process criminal law, including and especially the alleged gratification," said Hinca.

He said the Attorney General's Office needed to take action against whoever was involved. This is also in accordance with the direction and instructions of President Joko Widodo who continues to strive to clean the face of law enforcement in this country.

Hinca also encouraged the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to get involved in handling the case, if the Attorney General's Office is still reluctant to disclose the investigation results to the public.

Moreover, the Head of Bareskrim, Komjen Pol Listyo Sigit P, publicly announced that he would invite the KPK to provide supervision.

"In this position, especially at the Attorney General's Office, the KPK can and must enter under the provisions of Article 10A of the Corruption Crime Law, if the AGO is completely reluctant and seems to cover up this case," Hinca emphasized.
