Djoko Tjandra will be placed in a joint cell with other prisoners in Salemba prison
JAKARTA - The Directorate General of Corrections (Ditjen PAS) of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights has confirmed that Djoko Tjandra will not receive special treatment. He will be detained with other inmates at Salemba Prison, Jakarta.
However, before joining other inmates, Djoko has to be placed in an isolation cell. He'll carry out independent isolation to prevent the COVID-19 transmission for 14 days.
"After 14 days of independent isolation, environmental introduction period, and non-reactive rapid results, Djoko Tjandra will be placed with others. He'll carry out the criminal and coaching programs in a residential block room," said the Head of Public Relations and Protocol of the Directorate General of PAS, Rika Aprianti, through her written statement on Saturday, August 8.
Previously, Djoko Tjandra was placed at the Salemba Branch Detention Center at the National Police Headquarters to facilitate the examination process.
However, the inspection has been declared temporarily completed. For this reason, Djoko Tjandra was later transferred.
"From the coordination meeting that we just held, the examination of Djoko Tjandra is enough for now. Therefore, we coordinate with the Director-General of Pas for the next placement of Djoko Tjandra," said Kabareskrim Polri Komjen Listyo Sigit Prabowo at a press conference, Friday, 7 August.
Djoko Tjandra was arrested in Malaysia, on Thursday, July 30. He was a fugitive in the transfer of rights cases. It's resulted in the replacement of Bank Bali creditors of IDR 904 billion which was handled by the Attorney General's Office.
