The Commander In Chief Regarding The Telegram Letter For The Examination Of TNI Soldiers Must Have Permission: It Doesn't Mean Closing The Examination

JAKARTA - The TNI Commander Andika Perkasa responded to the rules regarding the examination of soldiers who must first obtain the commander's permission. According to him, the regulation does not mean that the TNI is closing itself off from being investigated by law enforcement agencies.

"It doesn't mean that we close the investigation, no," Andika Perkasa told reporters, Tuesday, November 23.

The regulation is contained in the Telegram Letter (ST) with the number ST/1221/2021, not something new. The regulation was issued on November 5, 2021.

"So far (the rules) have been in progress and there is a mechanism," said Andika.

Apart from that, Andika emphasized, even though there was a telegram, the TNI still obeyed the applicable laws. So, if necessary inspection can be carried out according to the rules.

"I have to check again (about the ST) and I have to follow the laws and regulations. So the mechanism for summoning technical questions is only," said Andika.

For information, there are four points regulated in the ST Panglima. First, summons made to TNI soldiers by the Police, KPK, other law enforcement officers in order to provide information related to legal events must go through the commander/head of the unit.

Second, summoning TNI soldiers who are not in accordance with procedures, so that the Commander/Head of Units coordinates with the law enforcement officers in question.

Next, soldiers who provide information regarding legal events to law enforcement officers can be carried out in their units accompanied by Law Officers or Unit Officers.

Fourth, TNI soldiers who provide information related to legal events to law enforcement officers can be carried out at the office of law enforcement officers who summoned them accompanied by legal officers.
