Landslide In Gayo Lues Aceh, One Resident Dies

JAKARTA - A landslide occurred in Gayo Lues Regency, Aceh Province on Monday, November 22 at 23.00 WIB. The landslide material is in the cross area, between the Rikit Gaib District and Pantan Weather.

Plt. Head of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency for Disaster Management, Abdul Muhari, said that this incident resulted in two residents being affected by avalanche materials.

"One of them has been evacuated by a joint team in a condition of death," said Abdul Muhari in his statement, Tuesday, November 23.

Meanwhile, until now the joint team is still searching for one victim buried by the landslide who is estimated to be 60 years old.

"Search efforts since this incident occurred have been carried out by a joint team of BPBD personnel, TNI, Polri and local residents," he said.

Abdul Muhari said that officers in the field were careful in conducting search and rescue operations because they were aware of the potential for subsequent landslides. Meanwhile, according to the BMKG's weather forecast monitoring today and tomorrow, the two sub-districts, namely Rikit Unseen and Pantan Weather, are still likely to rain with light intensity. .

Responding to the potential for rain in the area, Abdul Muhari appealed to the local government and the public to increase their vigilance and preparedness against wet hydrometeorological hazards, such as floods, flash floods, landslides and strong winds.

"Residents and communities can prepare preparedness plans as well as establish communication between villages to monitor conditions and potential for hydrometeorological disasters," he added.
