Increase Vaccination Enthusiasm, DPR Commission IX Encourages Domestic Vaccine Production Government

JAKARTA - House of Representatives Commission IX member Saleh Partaonan Daulay encouraged the government to develop and produce domestic vaccines to prevent the transmission of COVID-19.

According to him, the use of domestic COVID-19 vaccines can increase public enthusiasm for participating in the national vaccination program. At the same time, it can assist the government in achieving communal immunity as targeted by the end of 2021.

"People seem to be more enthusiastic about using domestically produced vaccines. In addition to their love for domestic products, they also believe more in their efficacy," said Saleh Daulay in Jakarta, Tuesday, November 23. The chairman of the PAN faction of the DPR revealed that many residents said they believed in vaccines made in Indonesia. According to him, this is very reasonable because so far Indonesia is known as the largest vaccine producer in the world. "We have even exported vaccines to more than 140 countries. Now, it is time for us to produce our own COVID-19 vaccine," said Saleh.

"In the beginning, it was used for domestic needs. If later we are able to produce more, it is possible to export it as well," he continued.

If Indonesia can export, Saleh Daulay said, there is pride in itself and can help other countries. "To get there, we must use it for our own needs first. President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has always supported the use of domestic products, including vaccines," said the North Sumatran legislator. not a little for research and development of local products. "The president is very supportive of the use of domestic commodities. Therefore, all levels of government must support this alignment. If so far we are still using foreign vaccines, it is because of an emergency. If we can produce our own products, of course it is better to use our own products," concluded Saleh.
