PDIP Politician: Andi Malarangeng's Statement About The Mega-Prabowo Meeting Is Just Prejudice
JAKARTA - PDI-P politician Deddy Yevri Sitorus views Andi Alfian Mallarangeng's statement regarding the meeting of PDI-P General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri with Prabowo Subianto as prejudice and highly unethical.
Deddy Yevri Sitorus said that as the party's political elite, Andi Alfian Malarangeng should be able to keep his word.
"Mother Megawati's meeting with Prabowo was just a coincidence during the inauguration ceremony of the TNI Commander," he said in a written statement quoted by Antara, Monday, November 22.
According to him, as an intellectual, Andi Malarangeng should not make it appear as if the two figures were using the palace room for the benefit of the party.
The spontaneous meeting, he said, was friendly in nature and was a natural thing when taking the time to just greet each other.
As national political figures, according to him, it is normal for Megawati Soekarnoputri and Prabowo Subianto to discuss the current political and national conditions.
Moreover, both of them have recently been intensely involved in relation to the Defense University, although previously it was only through the Zoom meeting application.
"So, I think it's only natural as an eastern person to take the time to stay in touch when meeting face to face. These two figures are people who understand good etiquette like easterners," said Deddy Yevri Sitorus.
Deddy Yevri Sitorus was worried about the consequences that could arise in the community because of these prejudices. He said Andi Mallarangeng had to provide a clarification.
"Imagine that Mrs. Mega and Mr. Prabowo are like when you attend a party, then meet people you know and respect, automatically looking for a place to chat, right? The meeting place is also not a secret room," he said.
In the meeting room, he said, there were also palace officials going back and forth to serve. So, he considered what Andi Mallarangeng said as rash and unethical.
