At The Trial, The Prosecutor Revealed Evidence That Azis Syamsuddin's Request Did Not Make Aliza A Suspect
JAKARTA - The KPK Public Prosecutor (JPU) has shown the request of former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Azis Syamsuddin to former KPK investigator Stepanus Robin Pattuju so that Golkar Party cadre Aliza Gunado is not made a suspect.
"In BAP No. 71, you said, 'Around September 2020, Azis Syamsuddin called me to his official house on Jalan Denpasar. At night I came, at that time I met him on the back porch of the official house. and brother Azis said 'That's a Golkar Party cadre, can you help so that Aliza Gunado doesn't become a suspect?'," said KPK Public Prosecutor Lie Putra Setiawan at the Jakarta Corruption Court (Tipikor) quoted by Antara, Monday, November 22.
Lie read out the BAP Stepanus Robin Pattuju who was a witness for advocate Maskur Husain who was accused together with Robin for receiving a total of IDR 11.5 billion from the management of five cases at the KPK.
Aliza Agunado himself is a close person to Azis Syamsuddin as well as a Golkar cadre who once served as the former Deputy Chairperson of the PP Youth Forces of the Golkar Party (AMPG).
"The point is that Aliza does not become a suspect because my position as a KPK investigator can help so that Aliza Gunado does not become a suspect. I have also conveyed to Azis Syamsuddin that for this matter I will be assisted by my friend, Maskur Husain," added the prosecutor, still reading Robin's BAP. .
Robin then called Maskur Husain in front of Azis Samsuddin and sent a photo of the letter to Maskur and I told him if this could be helped.
"Maskur said yes, we will check the data first, after that I left Azis Syamsuddin's official house," continued the prosecutor.
"Did you really say that?" asked Prosecutor Lie.
"Once, but in fact in August 2020, we conveyed this first to convince Azis to provide a loan of Rp. 200 million. At that time I heard Aliza talking to Maskur, but there was no question of being a suspect, I changed my statement," said Robin.
Robin said he only expressed a desire to borrow money and information about the trial of the corruption case in Central Lampung involving the former Central Lampung Regent Mustafa.
"As far as I remember, I told Azis to give me a loan. I said that we got information that Mr. Azis' name will be mentioned at the trial in the Central Lampung case. At that time, Mr. Azis told anyone you know. Maskur mentioned Mustafa's name, as I recall Mr. Azis said the names and Aliza Gunado was there," explained Robin.
However, Robin could not give a reason why he gave such information at the investigation level.
"I forgot because at that time what I remember convincingly borrowed Rp. 200 million with the Lampung story, so the information didn't exist, I took it out," said Robin.
"What's your reason for leaving?" asked the prosecutor.
"After I remembered it wasn't there. I didn't tell the investigators that I wanted to withdraw, only the investigators said later if they wanted to change the information at the suspect's examination," answered Robin.
Robin still insisted that in July 2020 he and Maskur needed money for the needs of their sick parents, moved house from Salatiga to Jakarta so they intended to borrow Rp200 million from Azis Syamsuddin.
The indictment states that former Deputy Speaker of the DPR from the Golkar Party faction, Azis Syamsudin and Aliza Gunado, gave bribes worth Rp.3,099,887,000 and US$36 thousand (around Rp.513 million) for a total of around Rp.3.613 billion to Stepanus Robin Pattuju to take care of the case in Lampung.
