DKI Provincial Government Prepares Wage Limit Rules For Workers Above 12 Months Must Exceed UMP
JAKARTA - Good news comes from the DKI Provincial Government after the DKI Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) in 2022 is set to increase by 0.85 percent to Rp. 4,453,953.
Currently, the DKI Manpower, Transmigration and Energy Office is preparing regulations on the scale and structure of wages. The plan is that workers who have worked for more than 12 months will receive a salary above the stipulated UMP.
"This is to ensure that workers are over 12 months old so that business actors are not evenly matched that all (employees) must be equal to the UMP," said the Head of the DKI Manpower and Transmigration Office when met at his office, Monday, November 22.
Andri explained that the preparation of the wage scale was carried out through tripartite discussions between the DKI Provincial Government, the seven established labor unions, and the employers' association.
The DKI Provincial Government will recommend the wage scale for workers who have been employees of a company for more than 12 months. Furthermore, the employer will discuss with the workers to determine the wages of workers for more than one year.
"What is clear is that the figure is definitely higher than the UMP because this is a wage for workers over 12 months. Regarding the amount, it depends on the results of the meeting with friends in tripartite," said Andri.
After that, the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan will issue a governor regulation regarding the determination of the wage scale for workers over 12 months. The gubernatorial regulation will also contain sanctions for companies that do not want to comply with the lower limit of the wage scale.
Yesterday, the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan announced that the DKI Jakarta UMP in 2022 was IDR 4.45 million. This means that the DKI UMP only increased by around IDR 37 thousand or 0.85 percent from the 2021 UMP of IDR 4,416,186. The increase in the DKI UMP did not meet the expectations of the workers.
The labor group "burried" the DKI Jakarta City Hall several times before the announcement day of the UMP. In front of Anies' office, they held a demonstration to raise wages for 2022 to 10 percent.
Then, the Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah announced that the average increase in the UMP in 2021 on a national scale was 1.09 percent.
The workers again held a demonstration in front of the DKI City Hall. However, the union reduced the percentage increase in wages after the announcement from the central government, which was 3.57 percent.
Until finally, the DKI UMP is set to increase by 0.85 percent next year. This was decided based on dialogue with labor unions, employers' associations, and calculations by the DKI Wage Council.
