JAMBI - One of the pipes belonging to PT Pertamina EP 1 Jambi leaked on Premix Street, RT 01, Kenali Asam Bawah Village, Kota Baru District, Jambi. As a result, crude oil inundated people's homes.

Public Relations of Pertamina EP 1 Jambi, Afrianto BS said, the leaking pipe was the KAS 021 injection flowline which was corroded due to the old pipe factor. Currently the state-owned company is doing the cleaning.

Currently, officers from Pertamina EP 1 Jambi are still making repairs and lowering a number of tank cars and heavy equipment to the location.

"Officers have gone down to the field to clean the injection oil and water that came out of the pipe," Afrianto said as quoted by Antara, Monday, November 22.

In the meantime, the team is focusing on cleaning up the scene first and we will try to deal with it as soon as possible until today it can be completed.

After cleaning, Pertamina will then carry out an inventory of residents if anyone is harmed.

"If there are residents who are harmed, we will compensate according to applicable regulations," said Afrianto BS.

Previously, at 07.30 WIB, residents on Premix Street, RT 01, Kenali Asam Bawah Village, Kota Baru District, Jambi City, leaked which resulted in oil mixed with water flowing into the houses of local residents.

Residents are worried about the incident, leaking pipes pollute the environment and residential areas of the residents of Kenali.

Wahid Nurahman (69), a resident who first learned about the incident, said that the first time he heard a loud bang from a leaking oil pipe, it immediately flooded the yard of a local resident so that residents could not move outside their homes.

"I was surprised this morning when I was at home there was a loud bang, I thought I had a car accident, when I checked it turned out that the oil pipe in front of my house was leaking. Water overflowed into the yard," said Wahid.

Observations in the field, officers from Pertamina EP 1 Jambi are carrying out repairs and lowering a number of tank cars and heavy equipment to the location to repair the leaking pipe.

The team is currently carrying out repairs at the field location so that the oil mixed with water can be handled more quickly and does not pollute the residents' environment.
