Prices Of Staples Soar Towards The End Of The Year, Gibran Is Ready To Hold A Cheap Market In Solo

SOLO - The Solo City Government is ready to hold a low-cost market towards the end of the year following the soaring prices of basic commodities.

"Later, we will monitor the market again, such as the price of cooking oil, eggs," said Solo Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka in Solo as reported by Antara, Monday, November 22.

He said that it was necessary to organize a low-cost market to maintain people's purchasing power. In addition, these activities also aim to control inflation.

"We will hold it again later, it needs to be held no. Every year it must be like this, it's normal," he said.

In line with Gibran, Head of the Advisory and Economic Development Team at the Surakarta Representative Office, Bimala, said that the implementation of the low-cost market would take into account the conditions ahead of Christmas and the 2022 New Year.

"People need, usually mobility increases so purchasing power also increases so the economy moves," he said.

Meanwhile, related to inflation, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Surakarta City noted that in October 2021 there was inflation of 0.23 percent with a consumer price index of 106.20.

Head of the Surakarta City Central Statistics Agency, Totok Tavirijanto, said that inflation was caused by an increase in prices in the food category by 0.23 percent. In addition, housing groups are 0.43 percent, equipment is 0.42 percent, and health is 0.02 percent.

Thus, he said, the inflation rate for the calendar year January-October 2021 was 1.52 percent, while year-on-year inflation in October 2021 against October 2020 was 2.02 percent.
