Memories Of Leane Suniar's Departure, Lingling Agustin: Visited In The Afternoon Before She Died

JAKARTA - Former national table tennis player, Lingling Agustin, became one of the friends who mourned the passing of Leane Suniar. Lingling even recounted her last memories before the archery legend died for good.

According to Lingling, before Leane died he had visited his best friend in the afternoon. But God said otherwise, Leane died on Sunday, November 21 at 21.30 WIB.

"Me and the female weightlifter Sri Indriyani OLY visited Dr. Leane in the afternoon," said Lingling, quoted from a written statement received by the editors, Monday, November 22.

Lingling, who now serves as Treasurer of the Indonesian Olimpian Association (IOA), also revealed that when she visited Leane, there was also Leane's daughter. At that time they had time to pray for the healing of the legend who was getting weaker after chemotherapy.

"And we, who were accompanied by his son, Dr. Lousie Kartika, who is a nutritionist at the weightlifting training team, had time to pray for his recovery because of his weakened condition after undergoing the last chemotherapy," he said.

"Eh.. that night we got the news that he was gone. Rest In Peace (RIP) Dr Leane," said Lingling Agustin.

Leane Suniar's departure became a series of sorrows for the sports world, because a few days earlier Verawaty Fajrin, who is an Indonesian badminton legend, also passed away.

Leane's death was not sudden, because the former archery athlete was known to have had colon cancer since 2019. So far he has continued to take treatment until on Sunday night he gave up while undergoing treatment at the Gatot Subroto Hospital in Jakarta.

Until this news was published, Lenae's body was still at the Sentosa funeral home, RSPAD, Jakarta. Later, the deceased will be dispatched to the family funeral in North Sumatra on Thursday, November 25, 2021.
