Why Is The Office A Cluster For The Spread Of COVID-19?
JAKARTA - Offices are now one of the clusters for the spread of COVID-19, in addition to markets and public transportation modes. In total, 29 companies in Jakarta have been temporarily closed due to the spread of COVID-19.
Spokesperson for the Task Force for Handling COVID-19, Wiku Adisasmito, said the office cluster occurred because someone was infected with COVID-19 from a settlement and brought the new corona virus to the office.
"Actually, people who work in offices come from houses from settlements. Of course, in settlements there are clusters and offices as well, so there are clusters. They can be infected in their housing area," Wiku said in a discussion at Graha BNPB, East Jakarta, Friday, August 7. .
In addition to settlements, the effect of the emergence of office clusters can also come from the transmission of the corona virus on an employee's journey from home to the office.
"It could also be infected on the way and bring the virus to the office. Maybe, if there were more cases, there could be a terminal cluster, because of the transmission from the mode of transportation," said Wiku.
If offices become a COVID-19 cluster, employees must know the latest conditions to tighten the implementation of health protocols. Employees who test positive for COVID-19 must be treated or self-isolate.
Then the office room is cleaned with disinfectant liquid. According to him, this process requires the office to be temporarily closed.
"The office was closed in order to eliminate the source of infection. Therefore, it must be cleaned with a disinfectant," said Wiku.
Before reopening the office, Wiku asked company management to evaluate the implementation of health protocols in his office. The number of employees who come to the office must also be reduced by 50 percent.
"So, how long if it is closed, until the situation can be controlled again, after everything is clean, those who have been traced and then the results are negative, or if they are self-isolated, then they can go to the office again," he added.
