Haris Azhar: Instead Of Busy Persecution, Manage Papua For Peace
JAKARTA - Director of Lokataru Haris Azhar asked the government to focus on dealing with problems that occur in Papua rather than being busy criminalizing him.
Haris Azhar made this statement after completing the clarification of the alleged defamation case against the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.
"So instead of punishing me, it is better for the authorities in this republic to immediately take care of Papua so that it is peaceful, so that there are no victims," Haris told reporters at Polda Metro Jaya, Monday, November 22.
Haris Azhar stated that the current condition of Papua has returned to heat. So, the government must intervene directly to overcome the problems that occur.
"If I say people like to defend Papua, I want to emphasize once again that there are many victims. The army and the police, the ASN who work for the government are also victims," said Haris.
"The main task is to look at the situation on the ground, Papuans are crying, becoming refugees, this is a dilemma situation like that," he continued.
Meanwhile, regarding the mediation process, Haris Azhar stated that his absence from the mediation process some time ago had been exaggerated. Looking back, the reporter or Luhut called Haris Azhar was also absent several times.
"I didn't come once. The megaphone was too big, but when other people didn't come, during the mediation process, twice he didn't come. We took it easy. In my opinion, there's no need to overdo it. I didn't come but I have already informed the police," said Haris.
