Predict Gibran's And PDIP's Steps In The 2020 Pilkada Solo
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) has recently been in the public spotlight. The spotlight came after Gibran Rakabuming Raka chose to run as a candidate for mayor in the 2020 Solo Pilkada through the Banteng Party.
Last Saturday, the eldest son of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) conducted a fit and proper test for the candidate for mayor of Solo from the PDI Perjuangan. Not only Gibran, his party rival who is also the current Deputy Mayor of Solo, Achmad Purnomo, also took the same test.
It is interesting to wait, will Gibran Rakabuming Raka appearing at the last minute before the PDIP registration of candidate for mayor of Solo will receive a party recommendation?
Al-Azhar University Political Observer Ujang Komarudin predicts that Gibran has a great chance of getting a recommendation from Megawati Soekarnoputri as a candidate for Mayor of Solo.
"Those who will receive Gibran's recommendation. The percentage reaches 90 percent," said Ujang, when contacted by VOI, in Jakarta, Monday, December 23.
According to Ujang, Magawati would give a recommendation because based on political calculations, Gibran had a big chance of winning the Solo Pilkada in 2024.
"He is the son of Jokowi. The son of the president of the Republic of Indonesia. Has all the resources to win. If he goes to the district head, he will win. Moreover, this is the son of the president. Many powers will help him," he explained.
Before undergoing the fit and proper test, Gibran said that he had also studied and prepared himself, including reading the book that was given to him by the Chairperson of the PDIP, Megawati Sukarnoputri, some time ago.
As is known, Gibran's steps were not smooth. PDIP Surakarta DPC cannot accept it. The reason is that the PDIP DPC has decided to submit the name of Achmad Purnomo, who was nominated as a candidate for mayor. The door to the DPC is closed, Gibran's chances have not just run aground. The Central Java PDIP DPD opened the opportunity and finally registered itself through the DPD route.
Not only that, there were rules that narrowed Gibran's chances. There are requirements for cadres who wish to advance as a candidate for regional head, namely, at least being a cadre for three years and receiving a recommendation from the party management where the candidate is domiciled.
"The issue is that there is an internal rule that you must have been a cadre for at least three years and have been a regional administrator, that is an internal rule that can be violated, which can be revised. And the fact is that many new cadres will immediately advance in the Pilkada," said Ujang.
Rival becomes friends
According to Ujang, Megawati will not allow the internal party chaos to continue ahead of the 2020 Solo Pilkada. Because of that, the recommendation could be to pair Gibran with his rival Achmad Purnomo.
"And his rival could be Gibran's representative. In order to avoid turmoil and conflict within the PDIP Solo, then combining Gibran and his rival is a PDIP solution," he said.
Although currently Gibran's electability is below its rivals, it is not permanent. This means that Gibran has the opportunity to overtake his rivals. Moreover, it is predicted that electability will continue to rise.
"Gibran's electability will creep up and will beat his rivals. And that will be the basis for the PDIP to recommend Gibran and his rivals to become Gibran's representatives. It is very simple to read the direction of the movement of Gibran and the PDIP in Solo," he said.
Regarding the recommendation from the PDIP for Gibran, according to Ujang, it is only a matter of waiting for time. Previously, the Chairperson of the PDIP DPP in the field of Election Winning Bambang Wuryanto said that he did not question Gibran's move to advance in the 2020 Solo Pilkada contest. Even though the Surakarta DPC already had a candidate to be promoted in the contest.
"So there is no problem. That the authority to provide recommendations for candidate pairs is in the hands of the party council led by the general chairman," he said.
According to Bambang, Megawati will decide on very specific matters. The specific thing that is meant is that which has drawn national attention. Bambang also confirmed that there was no special treatment for Gibran even though he was the president's son. According to him, all candidates will be treated equally.
"Please give permission, of course Mas Gibran will not be given a red carpet," he explained.
