Ahead Of The 2020 AFF Cup, The Indonesian National Team Is Confirmed Without The Red And White Flying

Jakarta - It is certain that the Indonesian national team will not be able to fly the red and white flag at the 2020 AFF Cup in December. This is the aftermath of the sanctions imposed by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) on Indonesia.

Not only in the world of football, the previous WADA sanctions were applied in the Thomas Cup last October. At that time, Indonesia, which won the championship title, could only fly the PBSI flag.

The news regarding the WADA sanctions that are still in effect in the 2020 AFF Cup was published by the @theaseanball account on Twitter.

"Thailand and Indonesia flags do not appear at AFF 2020," the account wrote.

"Due to the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) ban, Thailand and Indonesia have been denied the right to fly their national flags at such events, including the 2020 AFF Cup," the account continued.

Not only will the Red and White flag fail to fly in the 2020 AFF Cup, the sanctions from WADA could also make the Indonesian flag fail to fly at the 2023 U-20 World Cup.

The sanctions imposed by WADA were due to Indonesia's failure to fully implement the 2021 Anti-Doping Code. In the aftermath of these sanctions, Indonesia was prohibited from flying its flag at any international event.

Apart from the sanctions, the Indonesian national team will be joined in Group B or also known as the AFF Cup 'hell' group 2020 with Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, and defending champions Vietnam.
