JAKARTA - Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto encourages world peace and conveys Indonesia's commitment to good relations with friendly countries.

This was conveyed by Prabowo in his speech at the 17th International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) Manama Dialogue 2021, Bahrain, Saturday, November 20 local time.

The values in question are the global desire for peace, freedom of expression, social justice and creativity, he said.

"Those who hold power and power in this world need to pause. They need to emphasize values, rules, respect for human rights, protection of minorities, and protection of the further degradation of our environment," said Defense Minister Prabowo in a press release.

Regarding the attitude in multilateral relations with various countries, Defense Minister Prabowo emphasized that Indonesia is committed to continuing to maintain good relations with all countries and maintain neutrality.

"Through ASEAN, together with countries in the Southeast Asian Region, Indonesia will always try to help resolve problems between countries that arise with the principle of mutual respect for the sovereignty of each country," he explained.

Regarding how Indonesia articulates defense and security in relation to its relations with the Middle East and countries in the Arabian Peninsula, Defense Minister Prabowo stated that as a country with the largest Muslim population in the world, Indonesia has very close relations with the Middle East.

Therefore, Indonesia continues to observe any complications that occur in regional security in the Middle East Region that may affect grassroots communities in Indonesia.
