Erick Thohir: SOEs Earning IDR 50 Billion Below Selling Only
JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir encourages state-owned companies to record revenues of above Rp50 billion. Strictly speaking, Erick said that he would sell SOEs with revenues below this figure.
Not only that, Erick said SOEs must be able to enter the global company scheme. This means that plate companies must have great strength and form to be able to play in the global business.
"I want to encourage again, SOEs whose revenue is below Rp50 billion don't need SOEs, they are private, we sell them. SOEs must play a big locomotive," he said at a virtual Digital Technopreneur Fest & Socio Technopreneur Campus event, Friday, November 19.
According to Erick, with revenues below Rp50 billion, the BUMN has not been able to compete in the global market. Therefore, in order to be able to play in the global business, the company's revenue must be greater.
Erick invites national entrepreneurs to be able to compete in the global market. According to him, this is a momentum for entrepreneurs to rise.
"Those who can must be able to compete with the global market, those who can intervene in the market when the economic balance does not occur, and we have proven it, and I hope this is an opportunity for national entrepreneurs to rise," he explained.
Erick said the government had provided various facilities for national entrepreneurs to be able to develop. Therefore, he asked for concrete steps from entrepreneurs to welcome this openness.
"The president has provided, all the facilities are available, the relevant ministers, I think the vision is the same, what is the vision? We didn't want our country to become only a market. We have to make sure that our market is for the growth of our nation. (But) we are not anti- foreign," he said.
