After Killing His Own Son, Father In Gunungsitoli Nias Tries To Suicide

MEDAN - A 4-year-old boy in Gunungsitoli City, Nias, North Sumatra was killed by his biological father. After killing his son, the perpetrator with the initials AZ (40) tried to commit suicide.

Nias Police Chief AKBP Wawan Iriawan through Head of Nias Police Public Relations Aiptu Yadsen Hulu said the murder case took place in his own house.

The incident was first known after a resident saw AZ pacing in front of his house while groaning in pain.

At that time, the witness also saw that the clothes worn by AZ were covered in blood.

"The witness then went to AZ's house and looked into the room and found AP's son, lifeless," said AKBP Wawan, Friday, November 19.

When found by the witness, the victim's condition was torn in the front of the neck, torn wounds to the front abdomen and torn wounds to the knee of the left leg.

Upon receiving the news of the murder, the police rushed to the scene. The police then secured AZ and took him and the victim to the hospital.

"It is suspected that the perpetrator AZ was secured by police personnel and then took him to the dr. M. Thomsen Hospital to be treated because he had been injured in the front of the neck which was allegedly caused by his own actions," continued AKBP Wawan.

From the scene of the incident, evidence was also secured in the form of a sharp weapon which is suspected to be the tool used by the perpetrator to kill his son.

Currently, said AKBP Wawan, AZ could not be questioned. Because, AZ suffered a tear in his vocal cords. In addition, based on family information, the perpetrator is also suspected of having a mental disorder.

"That according to information from his family, the perpetrator has a epilepsy and mental disorder," said AKBP Wawan.

AZ was charged with Article 44 paragraph 3 of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 23 of 2004 concerning the Elimination of Domestic Violence Junto Article 338 of the Criminal Code.

"With a criminal threat of 15 years in prison," said AKBP Wawan.
