Landslide Prone, Darajat Tourism Area Will Be Temporarily Closed Garut Disparbud

GARUT - The Garut Regency Tourism and Culture Office will temporarily close the Darajat tourist attraction area in Pasirwangi District for the safety of tourists because the area is prone to landslides during the rainy season.

"It's very impactful, maybe I will coordinate with BPBD in the future whether there is a temporary closure or not, depending on the results of the evaluation," said Head of the Garut Regency Tourism and Culture Office, Budi Gan Gan, quoted by Antara, Friday, November 19.

He conveyed the closure plan after a landslide that eroded the road in the Darajat area, Pasirwangi District, Friday afternoon.

The team from the Garut Disparbud, said Budi, will directly review the location of the landslide and which areas are affected by the danger of landslides, including the water tourism area in Darajat.

"For now, the cut is in the direction of entering Star Energi (geothermal industrial area)," said Budi.

According to him, the Darajat area based on the study is a tourist area that is prone to natural disasters.

The mountainous area, he said, was mostly used as land instead of hard plants which could trigger landslides.

"Yes, it's (vulnerable) because it is used as an area for agricultural crops," said Budi.

Darajat in Pasirwangi District is a hilly area that has many hot spring tourist attractions.

Due to the landslide disaster in the Darajat area, tourists canceled their vacation plans to the Darajat area.

A resident of Garut who wants to travel and stay in Darajat, Syifa (22) admitted that he had canceled his vacation plans to the area.

In fact, he said, had booked a place to stay with her husband, but in the end had to be canceled due to a landslide.

"Yes, the vacation plan had to be canceled, even though it was already 'booked' this morning," said Syifa.
