The KLB Title, Gerindra Will Confirm Prabowo As General Chair

JAKARTA - The Gerinda Party will hold an Extraordinary Congress (KLB) on Saturday, August 8. One of the agenda items confirmed Prabowo Subianto as General Chair and Chair of the Gerindra Board of Trustees.

Secretary General of the Gerindra Party DPP Ahmad Muzani said this was a continuation of the decision of the National Leadership Meeting (Rapimnas) on 4 June.

"Those who asked Prabowo's willingness to continue his leadership in the Gerindra Party, both as Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Chairman of the General Affairs," said Ahmad Muzani in his statement quoted by Antara, quoted on Friday, August 7.

In the Rapimnas, Prabowo gave an answer that he was willing to return to leading Gerindra in the next five years and that was a relief for the cadres.

According to him, KLB will discuss the accountability of the DPP which will be conveyed directly by the General Chair of the Gerindra Party Prabowo Subianto.

"The activity was then continued by listening to the views of the DPD as well as the appointment of Prabowo Subianto as the General Chair and Chair of the Gerindra Party's Board of Trustees (KDP)," he said.

He explained, referring to the constitution and bylaws (AD / ART), the congress must be held in 2020.

However, according to him, the implementation of the congress that coincided with the COVID-19 pandemic situation, Rapimnas decided that the first congress was held in an extraordinary way.

"In terms of time, 2020 means the end of the mandate period given by the Extraordinary Congress five years ago. But because the circumstances are extraordinary, where many gatherings are not possible," he said.

He explained, referring to the COVID-19 pandemic situation, the congress did not allow thousands of Gerindra Party cadres to attend, whose number of congress participants was estimated to reach 2500 to 3000 people, starting from the DPC, DPD and DPP officials.

Because of that, according to him, the implementation of KLB will strictly apply health protocols, for example the DPD, DPP and Board of Trustees who are congress participants, all of whom must undergo a swab test.

"Furthermore, congress participants must wear masks and gloves and wash their hands routinely. The swab tests we carry out on all congress participants are part of how we comply with health protocols during this pandemic," he said.

He explained that the KLB was planned to be held virtually and physically, participants who attended virtually were DPC administrators throughout Indonesia and some DPP administrators.

Meanwhile, according to him, the KLB participants who attended physically were DPD administrators who received a mandate from the DPC in their province, the Board of Trustees and the DPP administrators.
