Sugapa Police Attacked By KKB, 2 People Arrested By The Nemangkawi Task Force Turns Out Not Involved

JAKARTA - The National Police have arrested two youths following the attack by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) at the Sugapa Police Sector, Papua. However, based on the examination the two youths were not involved in the attack.

"Securing two people with the initials OJ (20) and NT (18). From the two, one mobile phone and one laptop were secured," said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Public Relations Division Kombes Ahamd Ramadhan to reporters, Friday, November 19.

The arrests of the two youths began when the Sugapa Police were attacked by KKB on Thursday, November 18. The so-called terrorist group opened fire on the police station from two directions.

"The shooting at the Sugapa Police Sector by KKB which came from the direction of the Telkomsel tower was 4 times," said Ramadhan.

"In addition, there were also shots from behind the PDB Bank towards the Sugapa Police," he continued.

After the attack, the team conducted a sweep using drone technology. As a result, it appears that five members of the KKB carrying three long-barreled weapons gathered in one of the green houses.

From there, the Nemangkawi Task Force team headed to the identified house to conduct raids. At the house, OJ and NT were found, who were immediately taken into custody.

"OJ and NT were traced by the Nemangkawi Task Force, there is no connection with the KKB," said Ramadhan.

The plan is for the two young men to be released or repatriated. Meanwhile, the other teams will continue to carry out security measures to prevent further attacks from occurring

"So the plan is for both of them to be repatriated, currently the TNI-Polri security forces in the Sugapa area are still carrying out standby and surveillance in the city, including securing vital objects such as Bilorai airport and in other places," said Ramadhan.
