Ferland And Edouard Mendy Condemned The Use Of Their Photographs In Articles About Benjamin Mendy
JAKARTA - Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy and Real Madrid left-back Ferland Mendy took to social media to complain about media coverage using their photos in articles about Manchester City full-back Benjamin Mendy.
Benjamin Mendy was suspended by Sky Blues after being charged with six counts of rape and one sexual assault. Benjamin has been in prison since August.
"It's very sad that in 2021 as it is now, neither (the media) in France or in England, they can't tell the names and faces of black people apart," the Chelsea goalkeeper wrote on Instagram, where he posted a screenshot of the article using a photo of himself or Real Madrid players in the article about Benjamin Mendy.
"This photo glitch seems anecdotal, but very symbolic. It's not that hard to tell two faces apart, especially when they're wearing different jerseys."
Edouard tagged the Real Madrid left-back account in his post. He then responded by expressing his gratitude to the Chelsea goalkeeper.
"Thank you Edouard Mendy!" wrote Ferland.
"We're in 2021! Stop it. It's a waste of time, but you have to respect us in the end, whether you like it or not."
