McGregor Reveals His Leg Was Badly Damaged Before Fighting Poirier

JAKARTA - Conor McGregor has opened the 'black box'. The Irish fighter claims it wasn't a fight against Dustin Poirier that caused his leg to break. So what?

The Notorious admitted that his leg was "severely damaged" days before he stepped into the ring. But, to prove himself as the best in the UFC, the 33-year-old fighter decided to stick with Poirier.

"In my last camp my left leg was badly injured," McGregor said on Twitter. Check out the full details below.

Currently, McGregor is still in the process of recovering. However, he warns that he wants to return to the octagon next year. Prior to that, he would have a wheelchair boxing bout with impressionist Al Foran.

McGregor's form - 22-6 in MMA and 10-4 in UFC - since 2018 hasn't really been that great. In four fights, he only won once and lost three times.

However, the former two-division UFC champion still appeals to his fans.

To that end, McGregor wants to prove his critics wrong after he lost through injury at UFC 264 on July 10. But who will he fight when he returns?

Max Holloway, Michael Chandler and Rafael Dos Anjos all raised their hands to face McGregor on his return to the UFC.

"Right now, I'm on the short list for Conor McGregor. With this wild fight, you can make your imagination run wild. That's all I'm going to say," Holloway said.
