Central Jakarta Is One Of The 8 Regions That Have Entered The Red Zone This Month

JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the COVID-19 Task Force Wiku Adisasmito said that there were 8 districts and cities that had not moved from the red zone for the past month.

"So within one month there are 8 regencies / cities in the red zone without changes," Wiku said in a press conference broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat YouTube account, Thursday, August 6.

The 8 regencies and cities are Central Jakarta City, West Jakarta City, Semarang City, Banjar City, Banjarbaru City, Tabalong, Medan, and Deli Serdang.

"We ask local governments, regents and mayors to pay attention to the handling of COVID-19 in their respective regions and report the obstacles they face to the national COVID-19 Task Force," said Wiku.

He also asked people in eight regencies and cities who do not move in this red zone to continue to obey health protocols such as washing hands, maintaining distance, and wearing masks. "Because this is the only way we can control COVID-19 at this time," he said.

Furthermore, Wiku also explained that there were 13 regencies and cities from the orange zone to the red zone or from a moderate risk area to a high risk area for COVID-19 transmission.

The 13 regencies and cities are from Karangasem, Gorontalo, North Gorontalo, Pahuwato, Depok City, Hulu Sungai Tengah, Ambon City, Mimika, Gowa, Minahasa, South Minahasa, Prabumulih City, and Binjai City.

Previously, based on data from the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) as of August 6 at 12.00 WIB, as many as 29,375 specimens had been examined with confirmed positive cases reaching 1,882 people.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 118,753 people," the Ministry of Health was quoted as saying, Thursday, August 6.

Then, the cases recovered today increased by 1,756, so that a total of 75,645 people recovered. Meanwhile, for positive confirmed cases, 69 people died and a total of 5,521 people.

The province with the most new cases is in DKI Jakarta with 556 new cases and a total of 23,936 cases. Then, East Java with 286 new cases and a total of 24,115 cases. East Java is also the province with the most accumulated cases in Indonesia.

Furthermore, South Sulawesi had 182 new cases with a total of 10,169 cases. Central Java with 115 new cases and a total of 10,151 cases. North Sumatra with 86 new cases and a total of 4,477 cases. Then, West Java has 83 new cases and a total of 6,995 cases.
