Preventing Acute Disease 'Blood Sweat', Mukomuko Targets Vaccination Of 1,500 Cows Completed Tomorrow
MUKOMUKO - The Agriculture Office of Mukomuko Regency, Bengkulu Province, is targeting to administer a vaccine to prevent 'blood sweating' disease in 1,500 beef cattle in November this year.
"Friday tomorrow, the deadline for giving vaccines to 1,500 cows has been completed," said Head of Livestock and Animal Health at the Mukomuko Regency Agriculture Service, Fitriyani in Mukomuko, Antara, Thursday, November 18.
Mukomuko district received assistance as much as 1,500 doses of vaccine to prevent 'blood sweat' disease in cattle from the local provincial government. Mukomuko district had previously received 2,000 doses of vaccine from the local provincial government.
Thousands of cows receiving vaccines are scattered in a number of areas. Vaccine distribution has been carried out to three animal health centers (Puskeswan) in the Mukomuko area.
The three puskeswans who received the vaccine were spread out in Ipuh Sub-district, Penarik Sub-district puskeswans, and puskeswans in Air Manjunto Sub-district.
Furthermore, he said, officers at three puskeswan scattered in this area gave vaccine injections to prevent 'blood sweat' disease in cows.
The impact of this 'blood sweat' disease has killed 931 cows in Mukomuko since January-September 2021.
"While the data on the number of cows that died until October this year has not been recorded by the Puskeswan officers, it is possible that there will still be an increase in the number of cows that died due to Jembrana," he said.
What is 'blood sweat' disease in cattle? In medical language, blood sweat is a term to refer to Jembrana disease.
Jembrana is an acute infectious disease in cattle caused by Retrovirus, the lentivirinae family which belongs to the retroviridae family.
This disease is characterized by various symptoms such as depression, anorexia, fever, extensive bleeding under the skin, and swollen lymph nodes, especially the prefemoral and prescapular lymph nodes and the presence of bloody diarrhea.
In many cases, this disease is accompanied by skin bleeding, so it is called blood sweat disease.
