MU Revenue Increases IDR 2.4 Trillion, Ed Woodward's Response Is Cold: Our Priority Is Success On The Field
JAKARTA - Manchester United vice-chairman Ed Woodward stressed that the club's current priority target is to achieve success on the pitch in line with the club's latest financial reports.
"Today's interim financial results show our resilience through the pandemic, our top priority is success on the pitch. The manager, players and everyone at the club are determined to achieve that goal," said Ed Woodward, quoted by Sky Sports, Thursday.
Manchester United is currently under pressure from its supporters after a series of poor results obtained by the club in the last few matches.
It is known that Manchester United in the transfer market last summer made a massive player spending by bringing in Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and sending Cristiano Ronaldo back, which of course spent a lot of money.
Currently, Manchester United's salary bill has increased by 23 percent after they signed Cristiano Ronaldo from Juventus last summer.
In addition, the total amount spent on salaries during the quarter ending 30 September, when the club re-signed Ronaldo and also brought in Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho, was £88.5 million.
According to Manchester United's latest financial report, currently the club's total revenue rose 16.1 percent to 126.5 million pounds, or around Rp. 2.4 trillion this year.
This increase is expected to come from match revenue after the return of supporters to the stadium after the ban due to the corona virus was lifted by local authorities.
Match day revenue rose to £18.8 million (Rp360 billion) after last year's record figure of only £1.7 million (Rp32 billion) due to games being played without spectators.
The increase in revenue earned by Manchester United also helped reduce losses to £10.2 million (Rp195 billion) from the previous year of £27.1 million (Rp520 billion).
