Meanwhile, the Head of the Labuhanbatu Police, AKBP Anhar Arlia Rangkuti, said the suspect was arrested on Wednesday, November 17, while hiding in a field hut in Talun Hamlet, Bandar Tinggi Village, Bilah Hulu District. AS had disappeared when her family and residents found Halimah's body in the garden.
According to AKBP Anhar, the murder was based on the perpetrator's jealousy towards the victim. The perpetrators are said to often quarrel over household matters.
"Information that we received from the Criminal Investigation Unit AKP Parikhesit, the motive is temporarily jealous of the victim, but we are still investigating," said AKBP Anhar.
The murder occurred on Tuesday, November 16 when the perpetrator and the victim rode a motorbike to a field about 5 km from their house.
"Arriving at the field, the perpetrator pulled rubber and the victim cleared the grass. At around 11.00 WIB, while the victim was cleaning with a machete, the perpetrator asked for a machete by saying "Let's go with the machete", then the victim handed the machete to the suspect," he said.
The suspect then pushed the victim to the ground. The perpetrator stabbed the victim.
"The perpetrator held the victim's left hand with his left hand. While looking down, the perpetrator slashed at the victim's neck 3 times. At that time the victim tried to fend off with his right hand so that there was also an open wound on the victim's right hand," he said.
After slashing the victim, the perpetrator then waited for up to 10 minutes to confirm that the victim was dead. After being confirmed dead, the perpetrator covered the victim's body with grass clippings around the victim.
"Then the perpetrator threw the machete by throwing it under the ravine. The perpetrator then rode a motorcycle back home, changed clothes and went out again riding his motorcycle to hide," he said.
During the disclosure, a number of evidences, such as the machete used by the perpetrators and a motorbike were also secured. Currently, the police are still investigating the suspect intensively.
