The Story Behind Mega And Prabowo's Impromptu Discussion At The Palace

JAKARTA - PDI-P Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto said a warm discussion between PDI-P General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri, Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto, and Indonesian House of Representatives Chairwoman Puan Maharani had occurred on the sidelines of the inauguration of the TNI Commander General Andika Perkasa on Wednesday, November 17 yesterday.

Hasto revealed that this discussion started when Prabowo suddenly came to Megawati who was present at the State Palace, Jakarta to take part in the inauguration activity.

"When I was accompanying Mrs. Megawati, I saw Mr. Prabowo walking quickly to Mrs. Mega's place. Then I told Mrs. Mr. Prabowo. Mrs. Mega then waited, greeted me warmly, and then entered the VVIP room together," said Hasto. in a written statement, Thursday, November 18.

Apart from himself, Cabinet Secretary Minister Pramono Anung also accompanied the meeting of these two figures. Hasto said that in that room Megawati and the General Chairperson of the Gerindra Party discussed many things, including the matter of defense.

This discussion on defense, continued Hasto, was carried out because Megawati, who is a Professor at the Defense University, paid great attention to it. "And the theme also fits the momentum of the inauguration of the TNI Commander and KSAD," he said.

During the discussion, Puan, who was also present at the event, joined in and a heated discussion ensued. Hasto said there were a number of things being discussed, including the recent national political dynamics.

However, he did not specify what national political issues were discussed by the three figures. "Mbak Puan, the chairman of the DPR RI, joined in a few moments and that's where the discussion took place warmly," said Hasto.

"Of course (the discussion, ed) is related to national politics and various national political dynamics," he concluded.
