The Deputy Governor Of DKI Still Doesn't Know Why The SMAN 96 Building Can Collapse While Being Renovated

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria admitted that the DKI Education Office would find out the cause of the collapse of the SMA Negeri 96 Jakarta building while it was being renovated.

"We'll check the cause later, why did it collapse. Whether there is something wrong with the structure, not strong enough, or because it's old, I don't know.

From this incident, Riza hopes that no more schools in the capital will collapse. He emphasized to the contractor who rehabilitated the school to carry out the construction work carefully.

"Our hope is that there will not be a school collapsing, especially when it will be used for school, there are children there. This is very important. We ask all those who are working on it, the contractors, to work according to the existing specifications," said Riza.

For information, the State 96 High School (SMA) Building, Cengkareng Timur Village, Cengkareng District, West Jakarta collapsed today while in the process of total renovation.

"The school collapsed during the new construction process, a complete rehabilitation," said Head of the West Jakarta Education Sub-department I Aroman when confirmed.

Arohman said this incident resulted in four workers being injured. They have now been taken to the Cengkareng Hospital for treatment.

"The incident occurred at half past two, when he collapsed while he was working. So, the debris fell on the workers. There were victims who were taken to the hospital, some had broken legs," said Arohman.

Arohman admitted that he did not yet know the cause of the collapse of the school building. Currently, the West Jakarta Metro Police is conducting an investigation.

It is known that the school renovation is a program of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Education Office, not from the West Jakarta Education Sub-Department level I. Construction has been carried out by PT Adhi Karya and PT Penta Rekayasa since two months ago.
