DKI Provincial Government Considers Expansion Of Low Emission Areas Apart From Old Town
JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government plans to expand the low emission zone (LEZ) in the capital city. Currently, a low emission zone has been implemented in Kota Tua.
The Head of Traffic Division of the DKI Transportation Service (Dishub) Rudi Saptari admitted that his party had mapped a number of locations that would apply LEZ. One of them is Jalan Blora, Dukuh Atas, Menteng, Central Jakarta.
"Regarding the possibility of implementing it elsewhere, we have mapped out several locations that we will try to implement LEZ. One of them is, maybe in the near future, it will be in the Jalan Blora area," Rudi said in a virtual discussion, quoted Thursday, 18 November.
Rudi considers that the Blora area is the most likely to be applied as a low-emission area because there is a qualified pedestrian route that will be completed soon.
In addition, Jalan Blora Blora is also a transit oriented development (TOD) area which is a meeting place for public transportation such as MRT, KRL, to Transjakarta.
"As a further step, there will be a transport hub, the MRT. Therefore, for Jalan Blora we will try to make it full pedestrian," he said.
In addition, other areas that are considered to be low emission zones are on Jalan Kemang, South Jakarta and the Danau Sunter area, North Jakarta. These two areas have connectivity to the mass transit system and pedestrian or pedestrian facilities.
However, Rudi admitted that these two locations are still under study for the implementation of LEZ. "We see how what parameters determine an area to become an LEZ area. But, to be applied to other places, it is very possible," said Rudi.
For information, the determination of the location of LEZ is based on the pedestrian paths owned and the public transportation network. Furthermore, when he has prepared the LEZ area, he will also create a new parking bag as a solution for vehicles that cannot pass.
"For areas that really need handling (low emission areas) because of congestion. That is our consideration to determine," he added.
