5 Things That Make A Drama Worth Watching Until The End

JAKARTA - The popularity of Jirisan, the original Korean drama iQiyi continues to climb. This drama by director Lee Eung-bok beat a number of other new dramas in the popularity rankings for the first week of November 2021.

Starring Gianna Jun (Seo Yi-kang) and Ju Ji-hoon (Kang Hyun-jo), Jirisan tells the story of the adventures of a team of rangers in Mount Jiri National Park. They both uncover the mystery of why many mountain visitors who come are missing or even found dead.

Here are the reasons why Jirisan must enter the wishlist of Korean drama lovers of the mystery-thriller genre and should not be missed until the end.

1. Jin BTS is the soundtrack for Jirisan

One of the most popular South Korean boyband personnel, Jin BTS, released a song called Yours specifically for Jirisan. Yours was screened in the fifth episode which aired on November 7, 2021.

Less than a week or on November 11, 2021, Spotify Korea and the World Music Awards announced Yours became the first song from a K-Drama OST to enter Spotify's Top 50 Global Chart. This Jirisan OST immediately debuted at number 45 on the Spotify charts.

2. The storyline is getting full of surprises

In the two most recent episodes of Jirisan (episode 7 and 8), Kang Hyun-jo predicted that a forest fire would occur in Jirisan. Haedong's ranger team rushed to save the trapped people even though their lives were at stake. Meanwhile, there was a sinister figure hiding in the shadows waiting for the time to strike.

After Kang Hyun-jo survived, he revealed to Seo Yi-kang "Someone tried to kill me and they will come back." Who is behind all that? Does the mysterious ranger that Lee Da-won (Go Min-si) meets have something to do with this? The audience is always taken to puzzles that are fun and difficult to guess.

3. Back and forth storyline One of the attractions of Jirisan is the back-and-forth storyline, different from most drakor plots. This plot explains why Kang Hyun-jo decided to join the Jirisan ranger team as a rookie ranger even though his rank is already high enough in the military, as well as how Seo Yi-kang uncovers the mystery of the incident involving the two of them. Jirisan's storyline, which continues to move between the past (2018) and the present, can be distinguished from the appearance of the images presented and certainly makes anyone who watches it curious.

4. High Rating Nielsen Korea noted that Jirisan still dominates with a rating of 7.9% and the highest point of 8.7%. This drama also dominates the demographic of viewers aged 20-49 years with a rating of 3.9% and a peak of 4.4%. Even on the iQiyi platform, Jirisan is still trending number one since it was first released. The hashtags for each Jirisan episode starting from #JirisanEp1 to #JirisanEp6 are often trending on Twitter every week.

5. Top Artist Cameos A number of top actresses or actors appear to fill Jirisan. Call it Son Seok-koo, who appeared as Seo Yi-kang's first love from five years ago in the sixth episode. Actor Ryu Seong-ryong appears in the first episode as a mysterious signalman.

Another cameo that appeared was Park Hwan-hee. The actress who played in the popular K-Drama Descendants of The Sun was present in episodes 1-2 and played the role of Hee Won, a tourist of Mount Jiri. Another name that is no less surprising Jirisan fans is Yoon Ji-on. Appearing in episodes 4-5, he takes on the role of Se Wook, the suspect suspected of blowing up Mount Jiri using a potato bomb.
