Densus 88 Arrest 3 Mubaligh Suspected Terrorists, PAN: Enough Evidence Or Just Assumptions?

JAKARTA - Member of Commission III of the House of Representatives, Syarifudin Sudding, asked the Special Detachment (Densus) 88 for Anti-terror to provide a complete explanation after arresting three preachers in the alleged crime of terrorism. The three are Ustaz Farid Okbah (FAO), Ustaz Zain An Najah (ZA), and Ustaz Anung Al-Hamat (AA).

According to the PAN politician, Densus 88 cannot arrest someone based on the assumption that they are involved in acts of terrorism. However, there is evidence that the person concerned did this.

"Is it really based on enough evidence? Is it just based on assumptions?" said Syarifudin Sudding to reporters, Wednesday, November 17.

Suding reminded that the arrest of the three missionaries should not lead to wild speculation in the public sphere. Because, there is no transparent explanation from Densus 88.

"I think that Densus 88 has opened this up to the public so as not to cause speculation," concluded Suding.

Previously reported, Densus 88 Anti-terror stated that it would not carry out developments by searching the offices of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI). Although it is known that Ahmad Zain An Najah is a member of the Central MUI Fatwa Commission.

"So there is no plan or attempt by the police to take action at the Central MUI office," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono, to reporters, Wednesday, November 17.

The search was not carried out, said Rusdi, because the evidence collected was sufficient. Where, the evidence explains that Ahmad Zain's involvement in the Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) terrorist network is sufficient.

"Densus has sufficient evidence of his involvement in the JI terror group," said Rusdi.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Operational Assistance Section for Densus 88 Polri, Kombes Aswin Siregar, stated that from the temporary examination, Ahmad Zain was in the JI terrorist network as an advisory figure. Likely, he was a respected figure.

"In JI, he is concerned with giving advice and input. This is still an in-depth investigation of several other suspects who also have the status of a shuro council, how they work and the mechanisms within the organization," said Aswin.
