Dozens Of Semi-permanent Buildings On Jalan Sindang Koja Catch Fire, Residents Help Firefighters Put Out The Fire
JAKARTA - Residents on Jalan Sindang RW08, Koja, North Jakarta rushed out of their houses to save themselves from the raging fire. The panic of the residents was seen this afternoon, at around 17.00 WIB. By 17.30 WIB, the fire was getting bigger and destroyed dozens of semi-permanent houses.
Firefighters who received the report immediately rushed to the location by deploying 12 units of fire engines.
The road access is quite narrow, making it difficult for officers to extinguish the fire that raged near the Sindang market, Koja.
Until this news was revealed, the officers were still extinguishing the blazing fire that crushed the flammable building on the edge of the Sindang river.
Bambang Hartoyo, a local resident, said that he was immediately shocked to hear his neighbor shouting that there was a fire. He went out of the house and saw the fire that had grown.
"I was surprised, mas, the fire was big and the wind happened to be strong too. So the surrounding buildings caught fire quickly. Moreover, the houses there are piled up all over.” Bambang said to VOI, Tuesday, November 16.
Firefighters are still putting out the fire to this day. Losses are estimated at Rp 700 million. The North Jakarta Police have yet to provide information regarding the cause of the fire.
