Anies' Subordinates Say That Formula E Has Been Working On Infrastructure Since 2020
JAKARTA - Managing Director of Jakarta EPrix PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro), Gunung Kartiko said he was optimistic that the DKI Provincial Government could organize Formula E to be held in June 2022 on time.
Although the location of the circuit has not been determined, the subordinates of DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said that the preparation of infrastructure facilities had been carried out since last year.
"Actually, we have already paid infrastructure work in installments from 2020, such as barriers (road barriers)," said Gunung in a virtual discussion, quoted on Tuesday, November 16.
Currently, the infrastructure that has begun to be built is stored in a warehouse owned by Jakpro. Thus, when the location for the electric car racing circuit has been determined, Jakpro just needs to fix the asphalt road infrastructure.
"So, later it's just a matter of what kind of road tidying up, the asphalt. Then for the barrier side, we just have to install it," he said.
Meanwhile, regarding the certainty of the circuit, Gunung admitted that the target for determining the location was delayed by a month to December. "Indeed, we have not been able to open it to our friends. Next month (December) we will decide the location," said Gunung.
Although the selection of circuit candidates has passed pre-analysis, the subordinates of DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan admitted that they still need a process to determine the best location as a Formula E racing track.
"FEO (Formula E Operation/Formula E license holder) also cannot rashly determine the location because this location is in the city, not in the circuit," said Gunung.
Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria previously mentioned a number of alternative locations for their choice, including the reclamation island, namely Island D or Pantai Maju and Pulau G or Pantai Bersama. In addition, the Senayan area is also one of the circuit choices.
In response to this, Gunung admitted that the location is still an option.
"Alternatives (circuits) have not yet been taken out. So, everything has its pros and cons (cons). Later, we will find out which one has the most pros," said Gunung.
"Of course, that makes it easier for the community as well. We, in the implementation, also pay attention to the busyness of the people of DKI which are now also busy, yes," he concluded.
