Formula E Circuit Determination Is Delayed Again, The Promise Is Decided In December

JAKARTA - The location of the Formula E racing event is not certain. The initial plan, the exact location of the Formula E circuit was announced in November 2021. However, the decision turned out to be delayed.

Managing Director of Jakarta EPIX PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro), Gunung Kartiko admitted that the announcement of the electric car racing circuit was delayed a month to December.

"Indeed, we can't open it to our friends yet. Next month (December) we will decide the location," said Gunung in a live broadcast on Tempodotco's Instagram, quoted on Tuesday, November 16.

Although the selection of circuit candidates has passed pre-analysis, the subordinates of DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan admitted that they still need a process to determine the best location as a Formula E racing track.

"FEO (Formula E Operation/Formula E license holder) also cannot rashly determine the location because this location is in the city, not in the circuit," said Gunung.

Gunung admitted that the determination of the Formula E circuit requires more consideration than other racing matches that will also be held in Indonesia, such as the Moto GP in Mandalika, NTB.

"Unlike Mandalika, which already has an area, they just need to make the best design, then carry out certification from the FIA. If we consider it because it is in the city of Jakarta. We deliberately build the circuit. So, the considerations are quite diverse," he explained. , Jakarta officially became the host of Formula E on June 4, 2022. This decision was made through the FIA World Motor Sport Council in Paris, on October 15, 2021, which also ratified the 8th season racing calendar for 2021/2022.

Previously, Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria said that the license holder of Formula E, namely Formula E Operation, would come to Jakarta to review the 5 locations that were used as options for the Formula E event.

These five alternative places were prepared because the DKI Provincial Government canceled the plan to organize Formula E at the National Monument (Monas) because it did not get permission from the central government.

"There are five points that are being alternative. We will wait for formula E to review which locations are possible. God willing, this month (November)," said Riza.

Riza had revealed a number of alternative locations, including the reclamation island, namely Pulau D or Pantai Maju and Pulau G or Pantai Bersama. In addition, the Senayan area is also one of the circuit choices.

"There are 5 points that are being used as alternatives. One of them has been mentioned (on the Island of Reclamation). Another place, sorry, I can't convey. If it has now been submitted, it will be crowded. If it becomes crowded, it will be difficult, yes," he said.
