Breaking News, General Andika Perkasa Appointed As National Armed Forces Commander On Wednesday, November 17
JAKARTA - The Palace has scheduled the inauguration of the Army Chief of Staff General Andika Perkasa as National Armed Forces (TNI) Commander on Wednesday, November 17.
"He said that tomorrow (Wednesday) the inauguration of the Commander will be held," said Head of the Presidential Secretariat (Kasetpres) Heru Budi Hartono in Jakarta, Tuesday, November 16.
The inauguration will be carried out at the State Palace by President Joko Widodo.
"In addition to the inauguration of the TNI Commander, there will be the inauguration of ambassadors," added Heru.
Previously, the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) Plenary Meeting on Monday (8/11) approved President Joko Widodo's proposal to propose the name of General Andika Perkasa as a candidate for TNI Commander.
The approval was taken after hearing the report of Commission I of the House of Representatives which had conducted a fit and proper test for the candidate for the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces on Saturday (6/11).
In the plenary meeting, General Andika Perkasa was present and introduced before the members of the council. Andika was chosen as the TNI Commander to replace Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto who was about to retire.
Andika Perkasa before being trusted to become TNI Commander, was the Army Chief of Staff (Kasad). Andika has also held important positions in the TNI as Commander of the Army Strategic Reserve Command (Pangkostrad), and Commander of the Army Education and Training Doctrine Development Command (Dankodiklat AD).
Andika has also served as the territorial leader when he was Commander of the XII/Tanjungpura Military Regional Command (Pangdam) in 2016. Before becoming Commander of the Military Command (Pangdam) XII, Andika was the Commander of the Presidential Security Forces (Danpaspampres) who guarded President Jokowi.
