Senior National Team And U-19 Ensure To Have Training 7 August

JAKARTA - Questions regarding the training schedule for the Indonesian national team have finally been answered. Head coach Shin Tae-yong and PSSI confirmed that the senior national team and U-19 will undergo their inaugural training on Friday, August 7 at the Madya Stadium, Jakarta.

Previously, the senior national team and U-19 had not yet done training because they had to follow the health protocol and waited three times for the results of the swab test.

The inaugural training for the senior national team and U-19 was supposed to be planned for last Saturday at the Senayan Madya Stadium, Jakarta. The Garuda squad has arrived and is undergoing training camp (TC) in Jakarta since last Thursday, July 23.

One day earlier, coach Shin Tae-yong had also landed in Jakarta after traveling to South Korea.

“I want to make sure all players don't catch COVID-19 before starting training on the field. We also asked the medical team to do a second opinion (swab test again) to other hospitals, "said Shin Tae-yong as quoted from the official website of PSSI.

On Thursday, July 30, the Garuda squad carried out its third swab test and was attended by 98 players and officials. Currently all players are still undergoing training independently at the Fairmont Hotel, Jakarta, which incidentally is where the national team stays during the training camp.

“In addition, there are several players from Europe who have just joined us (David Maulana, Brylian Aldama, Egy Maulana, Elkan Baggot), of course they have to make adjustments first. We want all players to be sterile, ”added the South Korean coach.

Meanwhile, PSSI's chief medical officer and also the head doctor of the national team, Syarif Alwi, confirmed coach Shin Tae-yong's wishes. "We have coordinated with the Covid-19 referral hospital requested by the coach and are waiting for further directions from the federation (PSSI). ''

For the Indonesian national team, this TC is in preparation for three further matches of the 2022 World Cup Qualification. The three matches, namely against Thailand on October 8, host the United Arab Emirates (October 13), and away to Vietnam (November 12).

Meanwhile, the U-19 national team is trained in this TC to take part in the 2020 AFC U-19 Cup which will take place from 14 to 31 October in Uzbekistan. Garuda Muda is in Group A with the hosts Uzbekistan, Cambodia and Iran.
