KPK Prosecutor Sets Aside Denials, Nurdin Abdullah's Gratification Money Is Called For Buying Jet Skis And Children's Speed Boat Machines
JAKARTA - The KPK Public Prosecutor (JPU) said the gratuity received by the inactive South Sulawesi Governor, Nurdin Abdullah, was used to buy two speed boat engines and two jetskis used by his son M Fathul Fauzi Nurdin.
"Furthermore, for the purpose of purchasing a 'speed boat' and 'jetski' engine, the defendant through witness M Fathul Fauzi Nurdin used the remaining Rp 1.2 billion to buy 2 units of 'jetski'; to Muhammad Irham Samad for Rp. 797 million and to buy a 'speed boat engine'. ' to Erik Horas for Rp. 355 million and the remaining Rp. 48 million was taken and kept by witness M Fathul Fauzi Nurdin," said KPK public prosecutor Zainal Abidin in a letter of claim at the Makassar Corruption Court, quoted by Antara, Monday, November 15.
The money to buy the speed boat and jetski came from the contractor and owner of PT Mega Bintang Utama and PT Bumi Ambalat Nuwardi Bin Pakki alias H. Momo who gave Rp. 1 billion on December 18, 2020 and also from Hj Andi Indar of Rp. 1 billion through Sari Pudjiastuti as Head Bureau of Procurement of Goods and Services of the Regional Secretariat of South Sulawesi Province.
After the money was collected, Sari Pudjiastuti reported to Nurdin, then he ordered his messenger, Muhammad Salman Natsiur, to take the Rp2 billion money on December 20, 2020.
Nurdin then asked Muhammad Salman Nasir and the head of the Panakkukang branch of Bank Mandiri, Muhammad Ardi, to exchange new money in the amount of Rp800 million.
"The proceeds of the exchange were handed over to the defendant while the remaining IDR 1.2 billion was handed over to M. Fathul Fauzi Nurdin to buy a speed boat and a jetski as stated in the WhatsApp conversation between witness Muhammad Ardi and the defendant," added the prosecutor.
However, at the trial Nurdin Abdullah explained that the purchase of 2 units of 'jetski' and 2 units of 'speedboat' engine was purchased using his personal money which was deposited with Muhammad Ardi at Bank Mandiri.
"Based on the defendant's statement, the public prosecutor is of the opinion that this statement contradicts the statements of witnesses Muhammad Ardi, Sari Pudjiastuti, Muhammad Salman Natsir and also contradicts the evidence from the 'whatsapp' screenshot between M. Ardi and the defendant Nurdin Abdullah, which states the defendant's request. to M Ardi so that the remaining money handed over by M Salman Natsir which came from the gift of H Momo and Hj Andir Indar was arranged by M Fathul Fauzi Nurdin," said the prosecutor.
So that Nurdin Abdullah's rebuttal, according to the KPK prosecutor, must be rejected and need not be considered.
In this case, Nurdin Abdullah was charged with 6 years in prison plus a fine of IDR 500 million, subsidiary of 6 months in prison and the obligation to pay compensation of IDR 3.187 billion and 350 thousand Singapore dollars, subsidiary of 1 year in prison.
Nurdin was also asked to revoke his right to be elected in public office for 5 years after serving his main sentence.
Nurdin is judged by the KPK prosecutors as proven to have accepted bribes worth 150,000 Singapore dollars (approximately Rp1,596 billion) and Rp2,5 billion as well as gratuities worth Rp7,587 billion and 200,000 Singapore dollars (around Rp2,128 billion) so that the total is around Rp13. 812 billion.
