Floods Hit A Number Of Pekalongan City Areas
PEKALONGAN - Rain caused river water to overflow and flood several parts of Pekalongan City, Central Java.
"The ones that were severely inundated by the floods were Degayu and Clumprit, so residents had to be evacuated to a safer location, namely the Degayu Village hall," said Head of the Prevention and Preparedness Section of the Pekalongan City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Dimas Arga Yudha, quoted by Antara, Monday, 15 November.
The flood caused inundation as high as 20 to 40 cm in several parts of Pekalongan City and forced at least 24 residents to evacuate.
According to Dimas, the rain that poured down the Pekalongan City area from 07.00 WIB to around 12.00 WIB caused the water of the Gabusan River to overflow and flood ponds and residents' settlements, especially in Degayu Village, North Pekalongan District.
The flood caused inundation as high as 20 to 40 cm in Clumprit, Krapyak, Sampangan, Panjang Wetan, and Pasir Kraton Kramat.
According to Dimas, BPBD has prepared refugee camps, public kitchens, and health service facilities in Degayu Village to help flood victims.
"Currently, we are working with PMI to provide food and medical supplies, such as mineral water, instant noodles, blankets, eucalyptus oil, tolak angin, and itchy ointment," he said.
