Up Chagi Jan Ethes Defeats Opponents In Taekwondo, President Jokowi Congratulates Not Giving Gifts
SOLO - The eldest son of the Mayor of Solo, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Jan Ethes Srinarenda, won the Taekwondo competition which was held at the Taekwondo School of Sanggar Kartika Buana at the Tirtonadi Terminal Hall, Solo, Sunday, November 14 yesterday.
As soon as the signal started from the referee, Jan Ethes issued an Up Chagi (Front Kick) which knocked his opponent down in the match arena. Gibran looks fiery encouraging his son from the sidelines.
Met at the Surakarta City Hall, Gibran said that Jan Ethes had only been practicing for about a month. Within a week, Jan ethes follows the exercise 2-3 times. The beginning of Jan Ethes's interest when he saw a crowd of children at the training ground.
"So when the boy passed by, there were a lot of small children. He wanted to come along," said Gibran, as quoted from the news Youtube show in Surakarta, Monday, November 15.
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), according to Gibran, also congratulated Jan Ethes after winning.
"I got a call from my mother (Jokowi) to say congratulations. I didn't get a gift," said Gibran.
Jan Ethes won the match after defeating an opponent named Ignatius Jason. Jan Ethes wore a red head guard and hogo while his opponent was blue. Jan Ethes won with a score of 25-10.
