Acting Mayor Of Medan Akhyar Nasution Positive For COVID-19

MEDAN - Acting (Plt) Mayor of Medan, Akhyar Nasution, tested positive for COVID-19. These results were known from Akhyar's swab test.

Head of the Medan Health Service, Edwin Effendi, said that Akhyar Nasution had a fever on Monday, August 3. At that time, Akhyar immediately went to the hospital

"In the afternoon the swab was carried out, and Tuesday morning the results were positive," Edwin told reporters in Medan, Wednesday, August 5.

Akhyar Nasution is currently still undergoing medical treatment at the hospital. Akhyar's condition was called by Edwin, stable.

"Our guardian can understand, he has many activities with his capacity as mayor, that is a risk with the current situation. This should be a concern for us, "he continued.

After Akhyar tested positive for COVID-19, the medical team immediately examined people who had close contact. This was also done to Akhyar's family.

"The family has done a swab, the results are negative," said Edwin.

Regarding COVID-19, a specialist surgeon who is also a lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine, University of North Sumatra (Sumut), Ahmad Rasyidi Siregar died on Monday, August 3, evening. This 71-year-old doctor has COVID-19.
