Epidemiologists Predict There Will Be No Wave 3 If The Entrance To Indonesia Is Strictly Guarded
JAKARTA - Head of the Professional Development Division of the Indonesian Association of Epidemiologists (PAEI) Dr. Masdalina Pane predicts that so far there is no potential for a third wave of COVID-19.
"Regarding the third wave, until today we have not seen any indication of a third wave," said Masdalina Pane in Friday's Dialogue event entitled "Resistance to Year-End Holidays" quoted by Antara, Friday, November 12.
For this reason, the entrances to Indonesia must be monitored extra closely to anticipate the entry of the Corona virus variant AY 4.2 from abroad.
This is important because the Corona AY 4.2 variant is thought to have entered a neighboring country, Malaysia.
"Because there is AY 4.2 which is getting closer to Indonesia," he said.
Masdalina also reminded all parties not to neglect implementing health protocols even though the rate of transmission of COVID-19 in Indonesia is now sloping.
He criticized the current COVID-19 vaccination achievement, which is still far from the year-end target.
"It's been 10 months, actually our vaccine is only 39 percent, it's still quite far from the 70 percent target. The 70 percent target must be achieved by the end of the year," he said.
According to him, it takes hard work and coordination from all relevant parties to achieve the December 2021 vaccination target.
"There are only two months left, of course we have to work hard for it," added Masdalina.
