Police Hunt For Hit-and-Run Car Driver In Palembang
PALEMBANG - Traffic Police Polrestabes Palembang City, South Sumatra, are hunting for the driver of the car involved in the hit and run that left one person dead at a red light at the intersection of four Jalan Jendral Sudirman Ilir Timur I.
The Head of Law Enforcement (Gakkum) of the Traffic Police of the Palembang Polrestabes AKP Malina in Palembang, Friday said that officers are currently studying further evidence in the form of CCTV footage and listening to witnesses who were at the crime scene (TKP).
At the same time collecting other supporting evidence to strengthen the hunt so that later the alleged perpetrator can be arrested, because the police number of the car is not yet known clearly.
"We are investigating further this collision incident to conduct a hunt for the car that crashed into it," he said, quoted by Antara, Friday, November 12.
According to him, from the CCTV footage at the scene, it appears that a minibus car was speeding from the South Sumatra Police Headquarters towards Pedestrian Sudirman, right at a red light at Bank Indonesia the car kept going until it hit two motorbikes in front of it.
Each one was stopped at a red light and the other happened to pass by pushing his motorbike because it was suspected that it had broken down.
In this incident, one victim was identified as Hirsan (49), a resident of Air Hitam Hamlet II, Paldas Village, Rantau Bayur District, Banyuasin Regency. He is a blue Suzuki Smash motorcycle rider with license plate number BG-3037-NQ.
"The victim was rushed to the Mohammad Hoesin hospital before being pronounced dead with severe injuries to his upper body," he said.
Meanwhile, witness Riko Bimantoro, a resident of Jalan AKBP H Umar, Aryo Kemuning Village, Kemuning District, Palembang, said that when the incident occurred on Friday at around 01.49 WIB, the victim was found to have been hit and lying on the road.
The victim suffered a broken leg, injuries to the right side of the head and he was rushed to the hospital by residents.
"Currently, the victim's body has been brought to his hometown in Air Hitam Village, Pali Regency, for burial by the family," he said.
