Ahead Of The World Superbike, The Road In The Senggigi Tourism Area Of Lombok Collapses Again

JAKARTA - The road in the tourist area of Senggigi, West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, again collapsed ahead of the World Superbike (WSBK) implementation, Friday, November 11 this morning.

The area is one of the locations that will be hunted by automotive enthusiasts considering the hotel facilities that have been complete for a long time. The collapsed road is on the shoulder on the left side of the road from the direction of Mataram City or precisely above Senggigi Beach.

The landslide event had caused traffic jams on the road, because motorists had to be careful crossing the provincial road.

The avalanche reached the iron road divider right below the Senggigi waters so that if it was not immediately addressed, it would take up half of the road. Considering that it is possible that landslides will continue to occur in the midst of high rainfall in Lombok at this time.

"The avalanche is expected to occur last Thursday night when it was raining heavily," said one local resident, Mulyati, as quoted by Antara.

He mentioned previously that the road had also collapsed, but the repairs had not yet been completed. Then it was exacerbated by heavy rainfall since two weeks ago. It is hoped that the landslide road must be repaired as soon as possible because it is feared that it will widen.

Meanwhile, Wida, a driver who crossed the road, said that the avalanches actually occurred in three locations, namely, in Batu Layar, Senggigi and near the Pacific Hotel.

"The one above Senggigi Beach is the worst, I also cringe every time I cross it," he said.

Previously, the NTB Regional Police began investigating two regional structuring projects in Senggigi, West Lombok Regency, which were suspected of having problems in the process.

Dirreskrimsus Polda NTB Kombes Pol I Gusti Putu Gede Ekawana in Mataram, last Wednesday, February 10, said that his investigation was initiated by a landslide which caused part of the road on the cliff of Jalan Raya Senggigi near Cafe Alberto to collapse.

"The investigation is still in the process of puldata (data collection) and pulbaket (collection of information material)," said Ekawana.

In his investigation, Ekawana assigned the NTB Police Sub-Directorate III Team for Corruption Ditreskrimsus. His investigation warrant, he added, had been issued.

The team involved in this investigation was also said to have checked the condition of the project work at the landslide point. "There is no embankment to support the soil to support the concrete structure of the work," he said.
