Surya Paloh Wants Jokowi Again If The Constitution Doesn't Limit, PKS: Don't Think About Changing The Rules
JAKARTA - Chairman of the PKS DPP, Mardani Ali Sera, responded to the statement by the chairman of the Nasdem Party, Surya Paloh, that he would support Joko Widodo (Jokowi) again as President of the Republic of Indonesia if the terms of office were not violated by the constitution.
According to Mardani, Surya Paloh's statement is the same as supporting Jokowi for three terms. In fact, it has been stipulated that the presidential term of office is only 2 terms.
"Don't think about changing the two-term rule. It is our collective wisdom to keep tyranny from returning," said Mardani in Jakarta, Friday, November 12.
However, Mardani considered that Surya Paloh's statement was only a political expression for Jokowi. Because, constitutionally, the rule of 3 presidential terms cannot be violated.
"Pak SP's statement is my view, political politeness respects Pak Jokowi. Come on, Pak Jokowi, protect the constitution," he concluded. Previously, the General Chairman of the Nasdem Party, Surya Paloh, had hoped that if the constitution did not limit the presidential term to only two terms, then his cadres would support President Jokowi for a third term.
According to Surya Paloh, all Nasdem cadres want Jokowi to serve three terms. However, unfortunately he said the constitution forbids it.
"If only our constitution did not limit the President's term of office to only two times, I no longer need to answer the questions of these party cadres, who is our next presidential candidate after Jokowi?" said Surya Paloh at the virtual 10th anniversary of the Nasdem Party. , Thursday, November 11, 2021.
