Chinese Tourists Begin Visit North Sulawesi

JAKARTA - Tourists from China began to visit North Sulawesi (North Sulawesi) Province, after being stopped due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

"The number of foreign tourists who visited North Sulawesi through the Sam Ratulangi airport entrance in June 2020 was 267, an increase compared to May 2019 without visits," Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of North Sulawesi Ateng Hartono told Antara on Tuesday.  August 4.

Ateng said, compared to June 2019, tourist visits to North Sulawesi declined by 96.8%.

The number of tourists who visited North Sulawesi as of June 2020 cumulatively reached 14,271 people.

This number is lower than the cumulative number of foreign tourists in June in 2019, which was 61,930 people.

Foreign tourists were dominated by 264 Chinese people (98.88%), followed by Malaysia 3 people (1.12%).

This foreign tourist visit is expected to increase, to increase foreign exchange for the country.

More attractions will further increase tourist arrivals in North Sulawesi.
