Departing For Turkey, Shin Tae-Yong Without Syahrian Abhimanyu

JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team departs for Turkey tonight. Shin Tae-Young crossed out one name, Syahrian Abhimanyu in the departing Indonesian national team squad.

The coach's decision not to bring Abhimanyu turned out to be for a strong enough reason. It was later discovered that Abhimanyu was injured.

"We did not bring Syahrian Abhimanyu to Turkey because he was injured," said Shin Tae-yong when met at the release of the national team players in Senayan, Thursday, November 11.

Abhimanyu is known to have suffered a hamstring injury. Syahrian Abimanyu suffered the injury while training with his club, Johor Darul Takzim, last Sunday, November 7.

With Abhimanyu absent, Shin Tae-Yong only brought 25 players. The South Korean coach also has no intention of looking for a replacement.

"Only 25 players finally came with us to Turkey, we will take advantage of the strengths of the existing players," he continued.

The national team's departure to Turkey is a series of preparations to appear in the 2020 AFF competition. While in Turkey, the Garuda Squad will undergo a test match against Afghanistan on November 16 and Myanmar on the 25th.

Despite their departure to Turkey to undergo trials, Shin Tae-Yong still targets victory. This is to boost the confidence of players when appearing at AFF 2020.

"We are targeting two victories against Afghanistan and Myanmar," said Shin Tae-yong.

"By winning, it will certainly increase Indonesia's FIFA ranking and will definitely increase the confidence of players ahead of the 2020 AFF Cup," he said.
