Papuan Police Chief: 10 SSK Brimob Archipelago Ready To Secure Yalimo's Repeat Vote

JAYAPURA - Papua Police Chief Inspector General Mathius Fakhiri admitted that as many as 10 company-level units (SSK) from Brimob Nusantara were ready to secure a re-vote (PSU) in Yalimo Regency.

"The number of personnel prepared is aimed at ensuring that the PSU will run safely without experiencing any disturbance. Although the number prepared is quite large, it is not entirely reduced," said Inspector General Fakhiri, quoted by Antara, Thursday, November 11.

He admits that five SSKs have been demoted, and even now one company has been demoted to Yalimo.

Currently, Brimob Nusantara personnel who have been deployed previously are on duty in Yahukimo.

"The initial stage has been shifted to Brimob, which previously served in Yahukimo, after the barrage and vandalism were carried out by a group of residents who were supporters of one candidate," said Inspector General Fakhiri.

Currently, the security and security situation in Yalimo Regency is relatively safe, but members are still on standby to anticipate various possibilities that may occur.

The implementation of the PSU in Yalimo Regency is the result of the decision of the regional election dispute trial held at the Constitutional Court, explained Kapolda Inspector General Fakhiri.

The Yalimo Regency PSU is scheduled to be held on January 26, 2022.
