Last Heaven's Door Film Review, Daughter's First Love Story To Her Father: Simple But Effective

JAKARTA - The Last Heaven's Door film starts showing on November 11, 2021 in theaters. This is the first film released by Falcon Pictures after the COVID-19 pandemic with family friends.

This film tells the story of a girl named Irma (Cut Meyriska) who lives only with her father (Indro Warkop). At the age of 30, Irma has succeeded in owning her own boutique with a variety of gowns designed by herself.

This success is also added to Irma's self-worth, who likes to take part in studies. Perfect, pretty, rich, talented, and religious. But, as is the case in most Indonesian families, no matter how successful a woman is, as long as she is not married is not considered a success.

Irma refuses to marry even though she is often forced by her father. From the study, Irma was determined to serve her father as the last gate of heaven after her mother died. After getting married, Irma is worried that she will be more obedient to her husband so that she can't take care of her father optimally.

His confidence wavered when he met Yusuf (Roger Danuarta). The photographer for Irma's fashion products turns out to be a classmate whom Irma had a crush on when he was in high school. Roger wanted to be serious, but Irma hesitated.

From the start, this film shows the closeness of Cut Meyriska and Indro Warkop. Their chemistry is so convincing. Director Fajar Bustomi seems to have deliberately stretched the story to show the details of the father and son's attention. Not much is actually offered in this film, pictures, scenarios, music, and simple stories all.

You could say half of the film's story is dominated by Indro, who for the first time played a drama out of his character in Warkop DKI. Whatever the drama, Indro is still good at making jokes and breaking the atmosphere, so this film doesn't feel boring in the end.

Moreover, Cut Meyriska and Roger Danuarta were able to release their status as husband and wife. The flowers of love can be displayed by them awkwardly and attractively, just like someone who has just fallen in love.

Towards the end, it was discovered that Fajar Bustomi's intention was to make this story run slowly and without much intrigue. The story is simple, about life that the audience must have felt too. About father and son, about the question of when to get married, also about falling in love.

From that simplicity, when the main conflict is presented, suddenly the heart feels sad, sore. Simple but striking, Heaven's Last Door is perfect for watching with the family.
