JAKARTA - Aston Villa officially announced the appointment of Steven Gerrard as new coach on Thursday.
Gerrard joins from Glasgow Rangers after guiding the club to the Scottish Premiership title last season, going unbeaten in the league.

Gerrard joined Rangers in 2018 after briefly becoming an Academy Coach at Liverpool.
Aston Villa CEO Christian Purslow announced the appointment on the club's official website. "The Aston Villa Board of Directors is delighted to appoint Steven as our new coach," Antara reported.
“Since turning to coach after an outstanding playing career, Steven started by managing and developing top young players at the Liverpool FC Academy which is an experience we greatly value at Aston Villa.
“He then took the bold decision to test himself in the intense and high-pressure environment of Scotland. Gerrard's next achievement was winning the Premier League title with Glasgow Rangers as really caught our attention as did his experience in Europe."
